November & December 2024 Exhibitions The Green Man Gallery Winter Collection Extensive and ever-changing exhibitions of paintings, drawings, mixed media, printmaking, photography, ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery, prints and cards by the gallery’s Resident Artists and Guest Designer Makers. Two and half floors of original art and craft. Open Studios Our Resident Artists’ studios on the first floor are open to the public. You are welcome to look round, even when artists are not present, or call in for a chat when they are. Friday 1st November to Sunday 22nd December: Affordable Art & Gorgeous Gifts - 20% Discount Offer To make owning art a little more affordable (and to help our artists who will soon be homeless) we’ll be offering a 20% discount on all art, craft, gifts and cards throughout November and December. Saturday 30th November: Lost Species Day Drop-in Activities - 11am to 3pm - All ages - Free Join artists Gordon Maclellan and Sarah Males for art and craft activities designed to remind us of the animals and plants we have lost and encourage us to prevent more disappearing. Find out more about this annual event at www.lostspeciesday.org Sunday 8th December: Felting Workshop - 10.30am to 3.30pm Learn how to needle felt and wet felt on this day course with Claire Parker - Art therapist, felt maker and painter. Claire will guide you through each process with take-away pieces and skills for life. Come and enjoy a day of creative and sensory delight. You will make a flower brooch and a larger felted square to use as a stand-alone art piece or to be made into a cushion or decorative table mat. All tools, equipment and felting fibres are provided, with the option to purchase felting resources and equipment on the day. Max. 6 participants. Cost: £75 per person. Likened to Carole King and Norah Jones, Hannah’s voice never fails to impress and she is joined by the wonderful Joseph Tanner on piano. She made her debut at this year's Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival as well as selling out her gigs at this year's Buxton Fringe, where she won the ‘Best Solo Vocal’ award. Book in person or by phone at the gallery or online at wegottickets.com/event/636282 Other Events Wednesday 27th November: Buxton Local History Society talk by Trevor Gilman Parker and Unwin - How two local architects changed the world we live in Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin set up their office in the Quadrant, Buxton, in 1895. They were in the forefront of moves to improve living conditions for ordinary working people and directly infuenced the design of houses across the UK and beyond. Doors 7pm for 7.30pm start. Cost: £3 on the door. (Free to Buxton Local History Society members.)
