The Green Man Gallery Spring Collection
Extensive and exhibitions by our Resident Artists and Guest Designer Makers including: paintings in oils, acrylics, watercolours and mixed media; oil pastels; pencil drawings; linocuts, monoprints, collagraphs, etchings and woodblock prints; photography; ceramics; textiles; jewellery; glass; mounted prints and a wide range of cards. 


Open Studios
Visit our Resident Artists' studios on the first floor. You are welcome to go in and view work in progress or chat to the artists when they are working.

​Guest Exhibitions

25th February to 29th March: The Impact of Digital Technology Across the World and Across Society A fascinating exhibition by Simon Rogerson, Professor Emeritus at the Centre for Computing & Social Responsibility, De Montfort University. Poems, stories, images and quotations. Launch event: Saturday 25th February from 2pm to 4pm.
 
3rd to 29th March: The Wild Hunt – Paintings by Jenny C Black
The Wild Hunt rides the skies in a clamorous hodgepodge of folk legend, seeking unwary souls to join the throng. In this exhibition of paintings by Macclesfield native Jenny Black, years of myth, dreaming and nonsense are presented on canvas and old floorboards for the ultimate judgement. This collection is inspired by British folklore through the lens of the artist’s inner landscape. Launch event: Friday 3rd March from 7pm to 9pm
 
31st March to 26th April: The Spring Gathering 2023
Our annual open exhibition is now in its 8th year. A celebration and showcase of the creativity of our region, the exhibition regularly attracts around 50 artists and makers. Launch Party:

Saturday 25th March: Will Hawthorne & Friends – Charity Gig
It’s always a joy to welcome this brilliant performer to the gallery stage and this time he’s bringing two talented friends singer/songwriter Chris Lay and variety pianist Maria King-  for a night of excellent music. Proceeds will go to the Music in Hospitals and Care charity. Doors 7pm for 7.30pm start. Tickets are just £5 with an optional door collection for anyone who would like to give more. A one-day workshop with Resident Artist Geoff Chilton you will learn various methods to free up your landscape painting. Learn how to blend non-realistic and symbolic ideas with representational elements, using tone to add drama and abrasive media for details. Saturday 1st April: Join the Knit-In – 1.30 to 4pm
A community project to help Buxton keep warm! Knitters from beginners to advanced welcome to join in. Crochet also welcome! We have lots of donated yarn and various patterns to share but please bring your own needles.

Saturday 1st April: Buxton Fringe presents Springboard - 7pm to 9pm
​Buxton Festival Fringe Committee invite you a celebration of the changing season and an exciting Fringe 2023. Mini-performances for a taste of what's to come; food drink nad excellent company. Free event - all welcome. Donations invited for food and drink. 

Saturday 15th April - Sketch Your Town - 12pm to 4pm

Enjoy free lunchtime music from this talented local singer/songwriter/pianist. As always there'll be soup, bread and cake on sale for lunch along with a warm welcome and excellent company. 12pm to 2pm. Drop in for a short time or stay for the full two hours. Free entry; donations invited.
