Much of Dawn's artwork features the local fauna and flora, along with the landscapes and buildings from Buxton and the surrounding areas.
An artist who grew up in Buxton and has carried that early influence of the Peak District ever since.
Painting and drawing has been a consuming interest with me all my life: on leaving school I went on to train at Manchester College of Art. Marriage and family life, bringing up three children, made serious inroads into the time I had to paint. A present of a box of pencils began to turn the situation around and I have returned (via various experiments along the way) to my first loves of oil painting and creative prints.
Since retiring from teaching adults I have had more time and nervous energy to spend on pattern and colour and the application of paint and print effects that I love so much. After living in different parts of the country, due to my husband’s work, I have returned to my home territory of Buxton.
