Visual Arts Events at Buxton Festival Fringe 2024
The Green Man Gallery is hosting four different events in the Visual Arts category this year.
Three of them are exhibitions which are open every day during the Fringe and are free to enter.
The fourth event is the annual Buxton Photo Challenge on 20th July. Scroll down for details.
EXHIBITIONS
THE FREEDOM TRAIL - The Green Man Gallery Resident Artists
What does freedom mean to you? Follow the Freedom Trail around the gallery to discover how the Resident Artists have answered this question. A thought-provoking series of paintings, drawings, printmaking, ceramics and photography, displayed alongside the gallery's vibrant Summer Collection, presented as a counterpoint to the guest exhibition, John Bull.

JOHN BULL: ILLUSTRATIONS FOR MICHAEL ROSEN'S POEM - Jeff Perks (in collaboration with Michael Rosen)
Children's author Michael Rosen wrote John Bull to explain how slavery came about and how British industry was built on the back of slaves. This striking exhibition of original linocuts and sculptures illustrates the poem and includes work created by children from Litton Primary School in response to the poem.

MY BUXTON FRINGE - Sam Slide
In 2014 local Trombone player Sam Slide made his Fringe debut with the show 'Trombone Tunes, Trombone Talk'. Ten years on, there's no music but Sam Slide has put together a photo book of Fringe memories. It's on display at the Green Man Gallery. Have a look, leave a comment! (New Writing)

BUXTON PHOTO CHALLENGE 2024
SATURDAY 20TH JULY - 10am to 4pm
Organised by High Peak Photography Club
Come and join Buxton's own Photomarathon - a photography challenge to take six photos on six themes in six hours. All you need is your camera with empty memory card or phone. Arrive between 10 and 11am to get your themes then off you go!

No advance booking. Fees will be collected on the day by High Peak Photography Club
