I make household textiles and art to wear from fabric I have designed, dyed, printed and stitched. My products are bold colourful and should make you smile
I am currently on sabbatical until Spring 2018. A small selection of my work is currently on sale in the gallery shop.
You can tell from my designs that I like patterns and telling stories!
I also believe that practical everyday items like tea towels and aprons as well as scarves and hankies should look lovely and make fabulous presents.
My designs start from a glimpse of something when I am driving, walking, running or cycling. These glimpses get photographed, sketched and adapted in my head (usually while running) and then worked on using Photoshop and Illustrator.
For my hand printed products, once I know what I’m doing I cut stencils from used cartridge paper and print using small wooded screens onto lovely natural fabrics like linen, cotton and rayon. I mix dyes on the screen to get depth and complexity and generally have a lovely creative time!
I work at home in my attic studio on home made print tables using thickened dyes and other traditional methods. All of my products, however mundane start in a happy home and I hope they will make their final owners happy too.
