Blue Moon
Linocut print 44.5 x 30.5cm framed £85
I have been working in lino since the completion of BA (HONS) in Fine Art printmaking in 1982.
I have exhibited widely in Yorkshire, Manchester, Birmingham and London and am a member of Sheffield printmakers. I completed an MA in 2004.
In my art work I have been interested in the chaos in nature for quite some time, usually juxtaposed with stability to provide a contrast for emphasis. The uncontrolled force of nature is compelling and is constantly changing in the landscape according to the seasons which makes for a fascinating backdrop to life.
In this piece, the moon provides a constant whilst the chaos of growth is writhing and changing. The pattern is also present as a stabilising force, but the undergrowth is taking over at the base of the picture. It is a lino cut, printed in linseed oil based inks on Japanese vellum.

A. Pied Flycatcher on branch of a fallen tree
Acrylics 36 x 31cm £55
B. Twilight at Sea (Awaiting image)
Acrylics and pastels 38 x 30cm £50
Around 22 years ago, I started sketching whilst in a dentist's waiting room, found it relaxing and fun so from there I progressed to designing greetings cards.
Painting was my next step up when I joined Disley Art Society and 20 years on, I'm still a member. I exhibit with them 2/3 times per year. I've also occasionally exhibited in various local venues in and around High Peak over the years. Recently, our art society plans on spreading out to new venues so this will give me a higher public profile. Watch this space!
My favourite medium for painting is acrylics as they are easy to use, versatile for creating special effects and they don't fade with time. I also like using pastels. My favourite subjects for painting are landscape, seascapes, flowers, birds and still life.

Dreaming of Home
Acrylic and mixed media on canvas 76.2 x 101.6cm unframed £295
I am a mixed media artist and happily retired art teacher, living and working in the Hope Valley. My creative mixed media work is intuitive, expressive and abstract, with attention to colours and textures that I sense all around me in environments where I feel safe and at home.
These responses often come from my feelings about my local environment being both mysterious and protective.
I am currently training to practice as an Art Psychotherapist, studying for an MA with Leeds Beckett University, on their Northern Programme, based in Sheffield.
This experience is freeing my style and enabling me to become more aware of the close relationship between the landscape beyond and the landscape within.

A. Balquhidder
Mixed media 39.5 x 49.5cm framed £150
I enjoy experimenting with different media. I used some colour washes to make this pen and ink drawing more vibrant. This is based on a picture that I took on a walk in Balquhidder near Rob Roy's grave.
B. Dry Stone Walls and Rolling Hills
Mixed media 67 x 51cm framed £175

A. Grandad and Me at the Spring
Oil on canvas 29.5 x 29.5 inches unframed NFS but prints available in various sizes
B. A Walk by Fernilee Reservoir
Oil & mixed media with charcoal Unframed NFS but prints available in various sizes
I am a self-taught artist exploring a range of media and also doing printing. Oil painting is my favourite way of working. I do not sell my original work but I can take commissions for high quality giclée prints in any sizes wanted.
St Anne's Well represents for me the heartbeat of Buxton. I wanted to tell the story with the two characters of the grandad and the little girl enjoying the spring. It also highlights the climate change discourse. Let's enjoy having the spring water in our beautiful Buxton town as it is so precious.
The second piece of work, A Walk by Fernilee Reservoir, it is mainly oil and mixed media with charcoal. One of my favourite walks with family and friends.
